Hands on Wilmington 2007 Testimonials
This was such a valuable project for us. We love our 19th century fence and
having it gleam for spring weddings and tourist season is a real pleasure. Thanks again
for your help in making the mansion look good. Over the years this great old house has
grown to be a symbol for Wilmington and having it look good reflects on us all. You
have our gratitude.
Beverly Ayscue, Executive Director, Bellamy Mansion
It is due to your extremely generous and timely donation that the Crisis
Line/Open House, and the youth we serve, will benefit for years to come. Thank you for
valuing and supporting the vital role we share in providing quality and respectful services
to the children in our community.
Nancy M. Hewett, Associate Residential Counselor, Coastal Horizons Center, Inc.
I enjoyed the day with my oldest daughter as we worked on our project at the
Domestic Violence shelter. Not only did it give us time together but also helped her learn
the value of community involvement.

On behalf of the volunteers and clients of Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, I would
like to thank you for your very generous donation of time, materials and work …. As you
may know, we serve people who are hungry in Wilmington.Since our donated funds
are designated for food, we have only done piecemeal maintenance on our
building. What a wonderful gift to have stable shelves, a sturdy floor, a clean building,
freshly painted walls and beautiful landscaping!
Jane D. Spicer, President of the Board, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard
On behalf of Girls Incorporated, we would like to express our sincere
appreciation for the tasks performed by your group. We are eternally grateful for the
maintenance repairs, painting, and beautification efforts at our site on Castle Street. Your
labor of love has enhanced the external as well as the internal appearance of our facility.
Tufanna Bradley, Executive Director, Girls Inc.
Some of our staff went to the Local Domestic Violence shelter to clean up the
yard, plant flowers and shrubs. We painted the outside of the primary residence and
cleared the side yard of the residence and laid down gravel. This was done so the
residents could park their cars in the lot and not on the street. It always feels good to give
back to the community.
